Do you need any Extinguishers Disposing of?

How often do I need my fire extinguisher serviced?

You should have your fire extinguishers serviced every year, by a qualified engineer who can provide you with a certificate to confirm it is safe to use. Every 5th year (except CO2 extinguishers), you should have an extended fire extinguisher service which includes a discharge-test. This can only be done by a qualified engineer.

My extinguisher is 5 years old, do I need a new one?

There is no need to replace your fire extinguishers just because they are 5 years old. Legally, they require an extended service (except CO2 extinguishers) which includes a discharge-test. This can only be carried out by a qualified engineer. With our engineers, each unit is: > Discharged and refilled with a new medium. > Resealed with new O Rings. > Re-pressurised. > Put back into service if compliant. This means you don't need to replace your existing fire extinguishers at 5 years old if they pass their extended service and discharge test.
